Microsoft Outlook Classic Missing despite Installing Office 365
I suspect Microsoft is using another underhanded tactic. This morning, I’ve encountered two separate customers who needed Microsoft 365 installed. On both computers, after installation, I couldn’t find the classic version of Microsoft Outlook to set up their accounts. The new Outlook version is prominently displayed (Microsoft even previously disabled the option to remove it from the taskbar), but the classic version is missing.
Outlook Gate? Microsoft’s Latest Tactic to Drive Cloud Subscriptions
Previously, I’ve located the classic Outlook by searching for “outlook.exe” and creating a shortcut, as sometimes the icon isn’t created during installation. This was despite all other Microsoft Office apps being properly registered. Now, this issue has occurred on two separate machines.
Microsoft’s Sneaky Outlook Push: Classic Version Hidden After 365 Install
For those unaware, the new Microsoft Outlook automatically uploads emails to the cloud (unless this option is deselected). This encourages users to exceed their cloud storage limits, potentially leading to paid upgrades, especially for those with only the basic 5GB plan. This tactic mirrors Microsoft’s previous strategy of limiting Hotmail/Outlook attachment sizes to 5GB, effectively preventing email delivery for many users, again pushing them towards paid cloud storage. Now, it seems the classic Outlook app must be manually installed, even after a standard Microsoft Office installation.
The classic Outlook version avoids automatic cloud uploads and is ad-free. This situation is incredibly frustrating and appears to be another Microsoft tactic to force users into paid cloud storage by hoping their emails are automatically uploaded.
Is Microsoft Hiding Outlook Classic to Force Cloud Usage?
In order to fix this issue – despite owning the far superior Microsoft Outlook Version (CLASSIC) you have to now search for it in the Microsoft Store and Download the app through there. The problem is – you can’t find the outlook Classic version easily as when you look for outlook you see the only the outlook NEW version as below which was forcefully installed on everyone’s computer without choice during a windows update.

Is this another thing that Microsoft has done specifically to make it harder for you to find a version that you’ve paid for in hopes that you will stick with their Far less superior new version that uploads your emails again onto Microsoft’s server and displays ads again for you between emails? Remember Microsoft main goals are for you to use Bing so that they can get additional advertising revenue and secondly to fill up your one drive as they know that once your one drive is full you will forever be a paying customer when they can hold your data against you. This company continues to sink to new lows every time.
